On Saturday, 12 Mar 2016, my friend Felipe and I set out to visit a wildlife refuge near Itapuã, RS, Brazil. It’s known for it’s monkeys and beaches.
When we got there we discovered the refuge was closed[1. Apparently the caretakers hadn’t been paid for awhile so they stopped showing up. Funny how that works.] so we weren’t able to enter. There was a nearby campground with a beach though. We hung out there a bit then drove up to the village of Itapuã.
The weather was great, the countryside and the beaches were beautiful. We didn’t see any monkey’s, but I could retire in Itapuã as long as I had a good Internet connection. It was a terrific day. Here are a few pictures.
