One of my favorite quotes comes from William Gibson …
The future is already here — it’s just not very evenly distributed.
At an early age I developed an appreciation for those who can describe the plausible future. This evolved into a collection of epiphanies every time I’ve realized that I’m actually living in it. I’m sitting on my deck, a patio heater taking the edge off of the cool morning air, listening to birds and traffic while I type a note on a device about a quarter of a inch thick that’s connected to billions of people around the planet. When I graduated from high school I’m confident that no one had that option available to them and few were imagining it. It’s pretty weird if you think about it, yet my kids take it for granted (as I do most of the time) and my grandkids have never seen a different world.
